An important reminder from our Health & Safety Expert
On recent visits to client sites, we have noticed a re-occurring issue with regard to rest facilities being of an inadequate size for the amount of persons working on the site. The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 - Schedule 2 notes as a minimum, rest facilities must:
"Be equipped with an adequate number of tables and adequate seating with backs for the number of persons at work likely to use them at any one time".
Where the above is not possible due to the lack of space on site, then a formal procedure should be established that staggers break times for various operatives/trades on site.
The above procedure should be clearly displayed on site and should ideally be part of the site induction, ensuring that everyone is clear of the procedure.
If you have any questions regarding the provision of adequate rest facilities please call on 01206 322121
